This happens quite a bit to law graduates but it is starting to happen to math graduates, architects and journalism graduates. It is also happening to Bridge Engineering graduates where a right answer, much like law, is necessary to save life and fulfill your professionalism.

Your economies and industries appeal to the good laws of these international bodies and when in dispute, the laws of England and Wales is usually the governing law for dispute resolution in the contracts as seen also in international shipping contracts. The Privy Council is also the final denominator in any such discussions such that you need to understand your English law whether you remain in the Commonwealth or become a Republic. But, if you become a Republic and do not appeal to the Privy Council, at least you would save some monies but the continued international interdependence and need to understand English law would continue. This is due to de de de de governing practice in international finance and shipping.
