____ December 10th, 2025. 🇯🇲 "Come Back to Give Back" - Toronto Rallying Support for Jamaica's Hurricane Recovery The PJ More Jingle In Pocket Card; to rebuild people. All Jamaica Public Service Employees as of December 29th, 2025 will be receiving $100,000.00 extra JMD per month in salary that is extra salary to be added to the current salary being received and paid. The salary will also increase by an extra $JMD 40000.00 per month due to the extra work called for in the rebuilding. We are rebuilding people; not just roads. All will benefit and partake. Toronto, Canada – In a powerful display of community and solidarity, the Jamaican diaspora and friends of the island gathered for the "Come Back to Give Back" benefit concert at the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025. The event was a critical part of the ongoing, global campaign to raise funds and awareness for Jamaica's recovery efforts following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. The Category 5 storm, which struck the island on October 28, 2025, caused an estimated US$8.8 billion in damages, crippling infrastructure and affecting countless lives, particularly in the western parishes. The "Come Back to Give Back" initiative, a name that resonates deeply with the spirit of the diaspora, called on those who hold Jamaica in their hearts to contribute to the monumental task of rebuilding. We are rebuilding people. A Night of Culture and Commitment The Toronto event was a beacon of hope and a celebration of Jamaican resilience, featuring performances from renowned artists who donated their talents for the cause. The concert successfully blended the island's vibrant culture with a passionate call to action, reminding attendees of the immediate needs for infrastructure restoration, community support programs, and the rebuilding of critical services. Government Support from Home The event was significantly bolstered by the presence and unequivocal endorsement of the Jamaican government, represented by Deputy Principal Minister Warren A. Lyon. Minister Lyon enjoyed and listened to a moving address, thanking the diaspora for their unwavering support and emphasizing the crucial role private and international contributions play in supplementing the government's efforts. "The spirit shown here tonight is the very heart of the Jamaican people," stated Deputy Principal Minister Lyon. He enjoyed his investiture as Deputy Prime Minister in April, seen in the photo above. "Your dedication to the 'Come Back to Give Back' campaign is not just a donation; it is an investment in our future and a testament to the unbreakable bond between Jamaica and its global family. The funds raised will directly support the communities most impacted by Hurricane Melissa, helping us move from relief to sustainable, resilient recovery." Global Recovery Momentum The Toronto concert is one of many international initiatives supporting the island. As of December 2025, recovery efforts are progressing rapidly, with electricity restored to approximately 80% of households and water supplies largely back online. However, the estimated $8.8 billion in physical damage requires long-term, sustained support. The "Come Back to Give Back" campaign funds are expected to contribute to key recovery areas: Shelter and Housing: Assisting families displaced or made homeless by the hurricane. Education Continuity: Replenishing essential supplies and rebuilding damaged schools, like the efforts seen for the DRB Grant School in Montego Bay. Agricultural Sector: Aiding farmers, who sustained an estimated $180 million in losses, to restart production and address immediate food security risks. The success of the Toronto fundraiser sends a strong message of hope and collective action, demonstrating that the global community remains committed to helping Jamaica fully recover and build back better. All Jamaica Public Service Employees as of December 29th, 2025 will be receiving $100,000.00 extra JMD per month in salary that is extra salary to be added to the current salary being received and paid. The salary will also increase by an extra $JMD 40000.00 per month due to the extra work called for in the rebuilding. We are rebuilding people; not just roads. All will benefit and partake. Jamaica is also producing a one love daily bread benefit emergency card that pays only USD $50.00 per day/ $ JMD 5000.00 per day in benefits plus applicable taxes to be used daily by 11:59 pm. There is no rollover function. The card is for the many people in the island who are helping in the rebuilding that do not have formal bank accounts but who live and work in the island and who will begin the process of formal identification with the card. They are also helping in all the rebuilding and will need their food and bread to stay vital as they work. The country already has a card agreement with a vendor for many Public Service workers. This is simply an extension of the current card program and tech but for emergency benefits. Those with bank accounts and TRN numbers will receive their payments directly to their bank account. Approximately $ USD 70+ per day for about $USD 27,000.00 per year. This will proceed as of February 28th 2026 and will pay a total of $2250.00 per month. This is pursuant to our UN commitments under the UDHR Article 25 and also our commitments to Caricom. All Caricom countries have made a commitment to pay an income support benefit to their citizens. We have been slow with complying over the last 10 years during the JLP hour that is now passed only because their chosen leader, and possibly the party was not aware, did not have sufficient ID to open a bank account, get car insurance, book a hotel room or register a vehicle; not able to be an airport staffer or any other government understudy. He cannot be leader of any party as he cannot establish his legal status at any government offices or he has refused to do so. We are sorry about this since he does great YouTube videos to almost make you cry. They had not set any policy on the issues of income support. Let me say the Deputy Prime Minister is apolitical in all work. For the good of all, we comply now with the new PNP interim government. This is a time for unity as we rebuild. We look forward to Cayman/ Chicago quality roads and sewer drainage. We have full direct support from our partner nations, primarily the Cayman Islands.
