In line with our commitment to maintaining strong, lasting customer relationships and fostering seamless business transactions, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) hereby issues the following binding directives, effective immediately as of August 19, 2026:

1. Acceptance of Bank of Jamaica Currency Notes All retail units and branch networks must recognize that Bank of Jamaica banknotes—both old and new series—remain legal tender and must be accepted without exception by all internal staff and commercial partners.

2. Revised Definition & Reactivation of Dormant Accounts

  • Activity Criterion: An account shall be classified as dormant only if there is a total absence of account activity. Deposits generated from interest payments or other secondary transactions qualify as valid activity.
  • Automatic Status Restoration: Any account currently showing activity but marked as dormant will have its dormant flag removed immediately, returning the account to regular operational status.

3. In-Branch Reactivation Process for Inactive Accounts Accounts that have remained completely inactive for a period exceeding three (3) years require in-branch restoration:

  • The customer must present two (2) valid pieces of Government-issued photo identification.
  • The customer must provide official confirmation of their email address.
  • The customer must complete a deposit transaction at the branch to successfully restore the account and remove the dormant status.
