So Tevor Bare is just a spoiled orphan who wants to think he will be a King and also equal to the neighbor's kid if he steals the kids shoes or the food off the back of the step.  He survived detection by saying he is working hard for his mother.  Who is not a saint as one who works hard for his mother while people are dying all around him as he pushes on the drugged dog and says "..I know I can; I think I can; Flo Jo can you hear Tevor?  I know I can...I think I can."
