There is no need for any conflict such as old world vs. New world or west vs. East or Native vs. ?...where east includes African, Arabic, Chinese and European including English vs.   the West. The Westerner is being asked to adopt an additional identity for assimilation to the east or old world but English is never enough. It could be too coveted as an identity also for the English.
